BETTY DAVIS (not actor) is a force, one does not meddle…ask MILES (if he were still above ground)…CARLOS SANTANA said of Ms. DAVIS… ”Indomitable – she couldn't be tamed. Musically, philosophically & physically, she was extreme & attractive.”..still is…… Started out Durham, South State…. Early ‘60s modeling, NYC, hangin’ in Village, multiracial art crowd, “light up we’re in COOLSVILLE”… met & married MILES DAVIS(19 yrs her senior), OIL+MATCH…didn’t work…She did intro MILES to JIMI HENDRIX & SLY…Mr. DAVIS’ music moved into Pcych-Jazz…thank you BETTY… Ms. DAVIS suggested “Bitches Brew” instead of “Witches Brew” to hubby, it stuck, Jazz history made. Ms. DAVIS recorded a number a very fine records…Betty Davis, They Say I’m Different, Nasty Gal (our fav), Is It Love? Or Desire.

Switching gears we head into UK Punkland circa ‘77….Surrey…THE MEMBERS start out Punks but expand their sound with reggae beats & horns… they integrate well, hang with RAMONES, BLONDIE, IGGY, even TOM PETTY (not sure how that works)….some SoCal Motel Skullduggery…The Yusze…. sold well enough to keep going, they still tour….

Post-HS, she moves to London, sings backup for JAMIROQUAI, remember them?, giant hat, Acid Jazz….Boyguy dies in car crash, sadness follows…friends say “stay with us in London”...does that, 6 years of drug haze searching for feels, brightness appears, lead singing with ZERO 7 electropoppers….drives into solo trip next, makes the news…2005 landed in NYC….got more famous for very last scene of HBO’s SIX FEET UNDER, “BreatheMe” plays as the show fades to black…more fame bubbles up…we could keep going but this horse is getting in the way…..

Time for FUN!….get your karate moves undusted….CARL DOUGLAS is here with “Kung Fu Fighting”. “Kats were fast as lightning”….yes indeed! One-hit…that’s all you get….this one tune wouldn’t allow Mr. DOUGLAS his fandom to expand, another song seemed of interest to no one….Mr.D still kicking’ at 77…. ”…it was little bit fright’ning”.
